Economic, Environmental & Social Justice

Join the fight for Economic, Environmental & Social Justice

Find the power to become an advocate

Economic Justice:

Economic justice refers to the fair distribution of economic benefits and burdens. It means that all Bahamians should have equal access to the economic benefits that come from the use of natural resources. This includes the right to participate in the decision-making process regarding the use of these resources and to receive a fair share of the profits generated by their use.

Environmental Justice:

Environmental justice promotes that all Bahamians (indigenous people) have the right to a healthy environment, regardless of their race, color, national origin, or income. It also means that the use of natural resources should not harm the environment, and that any negative impacts should be minimized or eliminated.

Social Justice:

Social justice ensures that all Bahamians should have equal access to the benefits and opportunities of society, regardless of their background or circumstances. This includes the right to participate in decision-making processes that affect their lives, and the right to a fair and equitable distribution of resources and benefits.

PROTECT ANDROS FROM LIMESTONE MINING

Special interests proposed to strip mine limestone from Andros Island, The
Bahamas for the next 60+ years. This project would be an irreversible disaster for
the people and businesses of Andros and The Bahamas, wrecking the local
ecosystem and any jobs tied to ecotourism, fly fishing, and small-scale fishing. This
proposal would destroy more jobs than it creates! Join us in standing up for this
national treasure of The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.

Our advocacy, joined with the voices of the North Andros community say no to
limestone mining on the island of Andros. The former Prime Minister, The Most
Hon. Dr. Hubert Alexander Minnis was admonished not to approve this proposal.
In 2022, under the Prime Minister, Phillip Brave Davis, The Bahamas Investment
Authority denied the application to proceed.

We remain watchful to ensure this project is NEVER approved. Help us protect Andros.

Report any environmental injustice.
